Tank Owner Members Insurance Company (TOMIC) is the successor to a risk retention group that was formed by oil marketers in 1990 to underwrite pollution liability for underground storage tanks. 

The company continues to share it financial success with its policyholder owners in Texas and New Mexico. In 1996, TOMIC became a mutual insurer - one of the few companies writing pollution coverages as an admitted insurer.

In 2007 TOMIC was converted from a mutual to a stockholder company.
